Sponsor and Applicant Roles and requirements
PLEASE READ ALL MATERIALS CAREFULLY
The sponsor should examine and review, with the new applicant, each of the items below, in detail.
A sponsor must be an active Juried Member for a minimum of two years.
A sponsor who is not active in the operations of Scope must establish a surrogate mentor to guide the new Juried Member through the activities associated with the Scope gallery for the first year.

The sponsor must review the applicant’s work according to the list of criteria provided by the Kiln Club and believe the candidate meets the standards of the Kiln Club. This review should take place early in the process so that the candidate has an opportunity to address any problems the sponsor may find. The sponsor should believe that the applicant is committed to supporting the objectives and activities of the organization.
If the Kiln Club Board rejects the applicant, the sponsor informs the applicant of the decision and discusses with the applicant the Board’s critical observations and reasons for rejection. This discussion should provide a valuable learning experience for both the candidate and the sponsor. The candidate should be encouraged to work on the aspects noted by the Board and encouraged to make application at the next jurying session.
If the Board approves the applicant, the sponsor will continue to be the applicant’s mentor and advisor for the upcoming year. Duties will include:

Make sure that you inform your new Juried Member of the take-in date and assist him/her with this process. Make sure the new Juried Member is trained in Scope procedures and be available to assist with filling out the requisite paper work.
4. The sponsor must train the new Juried Member for duties at Scope Gallery. Please use the notebook with Policies and Procedures kept at the desk at Scope. Please use this when training new Juried Members.z
5. The sponsor shall be available to help the new Juried Member learn as much as possible about the Kiln Club, continue as his/her mentor and be available for questions and advice throughout the year.
